Shodokan Aikido (昭道館合気道, Shōdōkan Aikidō);

One of the major branches of modern Aikido, first developed by Kenji Tomiki, a direct student of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido, and Jigoro Kano, the founder of Judo. Often in parts of the world Shodokan Aikido is refered to as Tomiki Aikido or Tomiki Ryu after the name of its founder. However Tomiki Sensei prefered his system to be known as Shodokan.

Mission Statement - In this age of ‘sport for all’; our mission is to facilitate life-long learning opportunities for our local community; specifically through Shodokan Aikido. Keeping mind and body healthy through the practice of ‘kata’ and ‘randori’. Tailoring these two elements to the age and physical ability of all participants.

CLSA is a martial art club/ dojo/ school training at venues in Central London (Bloomsbury and Tottenham Court Road). We accept students from the age of 6. The focus of our learning practice is a combination of mental discipline and physical fitness.

Mental discipline through structured training, to keep focus through our busy lives, whether studying at school/ university or maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Physical fitness through the well honed system of Shodokan Aikido, learning effective elements of self-defence in a safe and learner centred environment.
